Malaria on Eleuthera

I noticed a few days ago that our local blood bank has posted a notice stating that anyone who visits Eleuthera will have to defer donating for a year due to recent cases of malaria.

Hmmm... My link seems to be about Great Exuma, but I'm sure the notice at the blood bank was about Eleuthera.

I'm banned from donating for a year since I went to Tulum in January (but Cancun would have been fine.) However, when I was there, malaria was not a concern - I suspect these are more CDC-driven and precautionary, not but not something you as a traveller really need to worry too much about.
