low key, carribbean island hopping by boat vacay

We have a vacation group we like to travel with to the Caribbean for a week long vacay annually. so far we have visited twice to the chain of Bahamian Islands in Abaco. We have stayed in Elbow Cay (Hopetown) and Green Turtle Cay. Both have been incredible. We are looking for a similar experience like the golf cart for transportation and a sweet boston whaler to island hop in. We are looking for a non mega resort type of place and not an 8 hour flight for the states. I've heard Euthera and Exuma is cool. Any suggestions?

Love Exumas, my fav

Eleuthera is done by car

Virgin Islands also great but not golf cart kinda place, more sailing and higher price point than exumas

In exumas I really love staniel cay yacht club, although the rooms come with small skiff, it's worth renting a nicer bot for the week. The restaurant there is off the charts excellent. I enjoyed it more than Abacos

I second everything Blamona says, but will note that Staniel Cay's recent popularity has made it difficult to make reservations at that tiny resort.

Nearby alternatives include Fowl Cay (accommodations also come with a boat, but very pricey). Or, you can rent a villa in Black Sound, and rent a boat there. Both are close to Staniel Cay and the famous Thunderball Grotto, the swimming pigs, the native iguanas, etc.

Now, if your budget and/or skills allow, you can consider chartering a boat; if you are a group, that might work, with or without a captain. The British Virgins are a natural starting point, but there are also other destinations such as the Grenadines, Spanish Virgins, St. Martin/St. Barth/Anguilla, etc.
