Looking for Villas at St. Jean

am planning a honeymoon for the end of April 2004. We would like to stay on the beach at St. Jean or at least very close. Does anyone have a recommendation for villas in the area? It doesn't need to be large, just well maintained and have a terrace with a fantastic view.

mars - are you referring to St. John in the USVI's? if so, check out usvi-on-line.com. this has been a very beneficial resource for me in my planning an upcoming trip to the US and BVI's.

if you meant St. Jean, where is that as i'm not familiar? best wishes on your upcoming nuptials.

Oh, sorry. I meant to say St. Jean on St. Barths.

There are not many Villas right on St. Jean beach, except for a little group called VillasOutreMer that I think are run by Sibarth and -- some others right near the airport. For a honeymoon you MAY consider elsewhere on this beautiful Island. The St. Jean area can be a little noisy between the road and planes, and is mostly populated by famiilies. The Flamands area (with the beautiful beach) is our favorite, Pte. Milou, Lurin or Vitet--all are on the gorgeous hillsides and abound with spectacular views. Have a great trip and make your plans soon, as that can be a popular time.

Thank you so much for the advice. Do you have web site address for any of the places you mentioned (Pte. Milou, Lurin or Vitet)?

It depends on your price range. Those areas can be a little expensive too. You may try one of the agencies (there are 7 or 8) who speciaize on this lovely Island, or find a private owner through one of the websites. Type in those locations and see what comes up. Marigot has nice views too (maybe a little less expensive) but the beach there is not very good so you'll have to drive to Saline or Gouvenier.

We had a 2 BR villa near St. Jean several years ago which was just wonderful. You can see many properties at <http://www.wimco.com/> or googling <st barts villa>.
