Looking for suggestions for a Caribbean resort.

I am trying to plan a five night vacation for a group. My main priority is the water! I want calm shallow water. What I have to compare to is Couples Swept Away in Negril where you just take the cushions that are on your beach chairs out in the water and just calmly float all day with a drink in your hand! I prefer all-inclusive so that no major decisions about where to eat have to be made! I need something not too pricey so that I can talk the others into going! Mega resort is ok as long as the water is perfect but prefer something a little smaller. Help please!

I also prefer somewhere that we can go "off the compound". Into the surrounding area (village, town, shopping area). Is all of this asking too much ?

Define "not too pricey" in terms of a dollar range. We have no idea what YOU consider pricey!

Lots of All Inclusives in Cancun, Playa del Carmen and all through the Dominican Republic that will probably fit your budget..

The Buccaneer Resort on St Croix. See my threads about searching for a Caribbean getaway and deciding on the Buccaneer.

I am looking for all inclusive $500 or less per night.
Thanks for the reply Tabernash2. The Buccaneer looks wonderful. I will definitely keep it in mind for when I have more time since there is no nonstop flight from my area (North Carolina).
I am leaning towards Dominican Rep. since there are a lot of all inclusive and I can get there pretty quickly. Any suggestions for a calm water resort there?

Sorry, I don't know the AIs in the Dominican.

I did visit friends who live there, in Casa de Campo, which is a very nice large resort on the island. It is very nice, and there are lots of lodging options there. Golf courses, polo field, shopping, beaches, restaurtants, clubhouse, golf carts to get around.

My friends have a "golf villa, and they rent out their three-bedroom townhome for about $500/night. This includes having a cook and housekeeper there (not live-in, though). You provide the provisions.

You might want to google Casa de Campo for details.

I think Barbados is the most luxurious place in the world, This pristine beach island flaunts great natural beauty, from the wonder of underground caves to the beautiful vistas and the tropical colours of flora found across the island! Believe me you will love this place (and its people). you can contact Westcoastvillas.com for more details.

If you want affordable AI resorts with great beaches, and lots to do & see off the resort, you really need to look at Mexico....Riviera Maya offers many resorts that have exactly what you are looking for. Check out Grand Palladium Akumal, Grand Sirenis, or Barcelo.
