looking for romance in Bardados

I am looking for a resort in Barbados that exudes romance. I am 54 years old so I don't need a wild nightlife. My wife turns 50 this summer and I want to give her a trip. I need a luxury hotel with a beautiful beach. At night a few good restaurants with a romantic setting. I need a hotel where the service is impeccable. The bottom line-I want a hotel where I can treat my wife like a "LADY". I looked at the Sandy Lane and this might, just might, be out of my price range. Please advise as to what might be in line as the Sandy Lane

I would have suggested Sandy Lane - but if that's out (keep in mind prices are lower up until 12/15), then consider:
Coral Reef Club, Cobblers Cove (a Relais and Chateau property), The House at Tamarind Cove. Anyone of these West Coast properties are wonderful -- look at the new villas at Coral Reef Club.

You can find their links on the Tourism Board's website at:
www.barbados.org Then look under accommodations, then hotels, then names and contents, and you should find links to these properties.

If you need more help, please write me directly at: [email protected]

For restaurants I would definitely suggest: The Cliff - truly spectacular setting, gourmet food, and impeccable service.

Also would suggest Carambola for the same reasons and a third would be
Daphne's.

Cobbler's Cove is a pretty fabulous place, as Lois says. Nice and secluded beach, lovely grounds, every room is a suite, terrific onsite food at the beachfront restaurant--you name it. It also offers a dine around plan, at least during the summer, so you can eat dinner at other upscale hotels as a part of your package. If you can't afford Sandy Lane, try looking into Cobblers. They also have two spectacular rooftop suites with private plunge pools. I've never stayed in them, but if you can't swing Sandy Lane, you might be able to stay a few nights in a regular Cobblers room and then spend your last couple of nights in one of these suites.

I also recommend the Cliff for a romantic dinner setting. Have fun, and let us know where you decide.

Hi Estaban,

Have you looked into The House at Tamarind Cove? My boyfriend and I are staying there in a few weeks and from everything I've researched about the hotel (and that's A LOT, I researched every single hotel on the island extensively), it's perfect for what you're looking for. It's on the posh, elegant, QUIET West Coast (where all the fancy restaurants are - and one of them, Daphne's, is in the hotel), NO kids are allowed, 100% pampering and relaxation all the way without being snooty.

And the best part is this hotel is normally above $1,000 a night, but they're running summer specials because it's the "low season" - just $425 a night for an oceanfront suite, limo pickup at the airport, breakfast included every morning, all water sports included on their GORGEOUS beach, you get a 30-minute jet lag massage upon arrival (as well as champagne and canapes--also included), and your very own 24-hour-a-day personal ambassador who will make all your arrangements and reservations on the island for your entire stay AND bring you fruit and ice cream on the beach (also included!). Talk about being able to treat your wife like a "lady"!! I personally can't wait.

Here's the web address:
www.eleganthotels.com/thehouse
(Enter the Non-Flash site...it's easier to navigate)

Anyway, I haven't stayed there yet (we'll be going in August), but from everything I've heard and read, you won't be disappointed. Let me know what you decide!

Another option, as I have suggested in other posts is book thru a travel wholesaler. I know Classic Custom vacations does have Sandy Lane and Cobblers Cove on their lists of Barbados resorts. You must however book thru a Travel Agent. A TA does not cost you anything but the savings to you can make the difference between affording and not affording. They also do your air. Classic Caribbean is owned by Expedia, so they buy large blocks of resort rooms and seats on airlines. Many times you can fly business class for the price of coach (which is a special added touch!). You can visit Classic's website at www.ccv.com. Another wholesaler I find to be excellent is Island Destinations, and Travel Impressions. Ask a TA to price your trip with all 3 and choose the one that suits you. Classic has a very simple deposit $418.00 to make a reservation, the balance is due 45 days prior to departure, so it gives you plenty of time to budget. Hope this helps you plan a beautiful birthday for your wife. Maybe a wholesaler/TA can make your budget fit

The House does sound great, but FYI: the person who originally posted the most recent PSV trip report had another take on the place.

Then again, I don't think you could go far wrong with any of the west coast hotels Lois suggested--they should all suit you for your wife's birthday.

I would highly recommend the Coral Reef Club on the West Coast. We stayed two years ago and loved it. There has been a recent renovation which has made it that much better!

Estaban: "PSV Trip Report" is the title of a post by iammurphy, which originated on 6/30/03. I just topped it for you, so it shouldn't be hard to find. It mostly discusses his/her trip to Petit St. Vincent (PSV) but it also discusses his/her VERY recent experience at The House. Hope this helps!
