Looking for recs - underwater camera and the best beach bag

We'll be in the BVI next May, and the snorkeling is good where we are staying (Virgin Gorda). We're thinking of purchasing a small, inexpensive (under $300) waterproof camera to take with us on our adventures. I've been reading reviews on some sites, but would love to hear from anyone here. We don't dive, so we won't go too deep.

Second, as we will pretty much be beach bums for our week, I'd love to know if anyone has found the perfect bag for island-hopping?

Thanks all!

I love my Canon D10. Actually takes terrific underwater pictures with that setting. Love it all the way around, find it to be an excellent outdoor and night camera too. It is a little bulky, but the only tradeoff.

You can find all kinds if bags in every size and shape everywhere. So that's a little harder to recommend.

Beach bags aren't that plentiful here in Ohio, so I'd likely have to order one online. I'd love to find something that is lightweight and roomy, has nice pockets to keep things from getting lost, etc.

Thanks for the camera rec, Blamona. Someone else has mentioned that one to me as well.

I like a large non-structured bag myself. I use it as my carry-on on the plane, then as a beach bag after arrival. I've used a patterned fabric nylon tote, like was actually meant for groceries.

Take a look at Lands End or LL Bean for a good assortment of structured canvas totes (since you want pockets).

I always buy a beach bag when I get to the destintation I'm going if I need one. It's probably the wrong time of year to find any in the stores, but you might look at your local stores and see if you can find anything. Shopping on-line might be the the better option.

I have a Pentax Optio W60 that I bought back in 2006. I love it. There are so many new ones on the market now. I went to Best Buy and played with what they had until I found what I wanted.

Another vote for the Canon D10....easy to use, and takes great shots.
