Looking for rainforests and beaches together

I'm looking for a vacation spot for next Febraury (President's Week)for a family of four (children 6 and 8). What is the best place to take children, see the rainforest, and have nice beaches. Looking for a beach that doesn't have big crowds though.

Port Antonio, Jamaica has both without crowds;renting a villa would probably be your best bet (there are no AIs unless Dragon Bay, to be developed into a Sandals, is still open) with Goblin Hill worth looking into. You'd need fly into Kingston with a connector flight to the Porty airport or be met by a private car/van/driver for the 2 hour trip.

It's not in the Carribbean, but have you considered Costa Rica? The west coast has lots of nice beaches that are close to rainforests. We were there a few years ago with our kids and loved it.

I would definitely second Costa Rica. Check out the forum under Latin America where you can get all sorts of info. from lots of experts - Iza is especially helpful. Manuel Antonio area is probably your best bet to cover both rainforest and beaches. Happy planning!

Westin Rio Mar, San Juan, Puerto Rico with the rainforest El Junque. An excellent resort and beautiful rainforest. Take the hike to the waterfall.

That should be El Yunque

Consider Tobago.
A wonderful compact Island with an amazing Rainforest Reserve that covers most of the Interior.
Some gorgeous beaches on both the Atlantic and Caribbean sides, populated by friendly honest English speaking folk who pride themselves on being good cooks-the food is ambrosial.
The farther north you go on Tobago the fewer tourists you'll see.

Try www.mytobago.info for lots of info

As to Costa Rica I lived there for a time but would be hard-pressed to go back.
The bland greasy food, thieves galore are good reasons never to visit CR again.
