You may want to consider the Bucanneer on St. Croix in the USVI. Private hotel./beache(s). Quality service, excellent food and amenities.

I would suggest you try St. Barths. This is a very quiet, very beautiful and very french island. I especially liked a parrish called St. Jean. The beach is a breathtaking white powder. There are some very nice hotels and lots of villas to rent which include staff. This island is truly a get away off the beaten path and that is why so many stars vacation there. Once a week the Windjammer Polynesia stops there and it is quite a splendid to see a four masted sailing ship come into harbor and anchor there. I only spent one day there but have vowed to return. The shop keepers I came into contact with were charming and helpful. If you are interested do a search for St. Barths villas.
Young Island in St. Vincent sounds like what you might be looking for. It is a private island off the coast of St. Vincent. There are just 30 rooms on the island. The accomations, service, grounds, food, etc. were wonderful. Our package also included a night sail on a 40 foot yacht, just my husband, myself and crew. We visited Bequia and Mustique. Went on our honeymoon. It was wonderful. They have some packages and the rates drop May l. You also might want to consider Anse Chastenet or Ladera on St. Lucia. They were both great but different from each other. Ladera was incredible. We had a villa with private pool. It is set into the side of a mountain about 1000 feet up from the beach. There is no front walls to the room. From every room you have the veiw of a lifetime. We loved it. If you have any questions feel free to e-mail me. Kathy

Three books that will help you on your search are the following - "Caribbean Hideaways" by Ian Keown, "Caribbean Connoisseur" by Michele Evans, and " The 100 Best Resorts of the Caribbean" by Kay Showker. These books give extensive descriptions of all aspects of the kind of resort you sound interested in. I ordered brochures from all the resorts that sounded interesting to me. We finally narrowed down to where we wanted to go. We even knew the room number we wanted. I found these books very helpful. Good luck. KathyH
