Looking for islands safe to explore

Looking for an island thats safe to explore on vacation. Been to St. John and loved it. Is Anguilla safe to explore on your own? We don't really know much about it. Any other islands with a lot of secluded sandy beaches?
Thanks for the info.

Anguilla is very different than St. John with its twisty turny roads and vistas with a lovely beach around each curve or over every hill. It is arid and dry and the exploring is amazing as you go down a shell road and at the end find a wonderful pristine beach. The screnery is very different tho! Anguillla is very "safe" and it is one of the few islands where I have seen visitors walking the roads to go to dinner.

St. Bart's is safe and a number of small, secluded beaches with very few people on them. Saba is extremely safe, but does lack beaches.

Safe to explore with a lot of secluded sandy beaches:
Marie-Galante and Terre de Haute, both off the coast of Guadeloupe.
