looking for boutique hotel

hi...my girlfriend friend and I (we are both 28)are going on a bachelorette weekend vacation in December for 4-5 days. We are looking for a funky boutique type hotel. We love the Island Outpost properties but will be in Jamaica in April so we don't want to go there. We are not looking for anything too Americanized.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you Melissa

I've heard that "Jake's Place" cottages are really good, and reasonable.

Web site: http://www.islandoutpost.com/Jakes/

you are right they are nice, and exactly what we are looking for, but like I said we don't want to go to jamaica...we are looking for a different island. do you know of any similar hotels on different islands?

Try the Water Club in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I think the suites have two beds. Most of the boutique hotels such as La Banane on St. Barts or La Luna on Grenada all just offer one bed rooms. You could also try Numero Uno in San Juan. SJ would be good for a weekend since it's so easy to get to.

If you're headed for Jake's in April (talk to Colleen or Preacher at front desk, look at second story/top floor suites,Treasure Cot, Sweet Lips and
Jack Sprat), check out Vieques and Culebra islands off PR (Casa del Frances,Inn on Blue Horizon, etc.) Recommend Los Roques off Venezuela also but it's much too far for a weekend. Do-able also would be
the small places south of Tulum (flyl into Cancun and drive 2 hours...) as well as the far more luxe Maroma.

Island Outpost also has hotels in South Beach and in Bahamas.

Yes, in the Bahamas (Nassau) there is Compass Point, very funky and part of the island outpost chain.

Suggest Compass Point, New Providence Bahamas. Easy to get to, beautiful setting, great food and very laid back. The original chef has just returned and they have a new general manager. Have fun.
