Eleuthera in the Bahamas is the ticket - if you stay on Eleuthera there are no traffic lights and settlements are few and far between. If you stay on harbor Island, it's a quick small boat ride from the airport area and the beach is loooooooooooooooong and pink. There are plenty of small hotels - check Fodors website.
St. Martin is also nice. |
If you have not been to Harbour Island, you might consider it. The island is VERY laid back and you can have it all there, beautiful beaches, (you can even go to a desterted beach for the day to be totally alone), or have a bit of shopping and great restaurants that are walkable.
The beach is amazing 3 miles of beautiful pink sand. We love Runaway Hill, which would fit your budget, it is small only 10 guest rooms and what we loved is the options to join in with other people staying there for dinner, or not. Try www.runaway.com for info and some beautiful pictures. You guys will have a great time wherever you decide to go. |
Thank you again, wantsomesun and thank you noonema. Very interesting!

Barbuda is well-known for its seclusion and beautiful beaches. The sand is not white, but is a beautiful PINK from the coral! K Club used to be a favorite hideaway for Princess Diana.
