Looking for a new AI destination

We've been to AIs in Aruba, Dominican Republic and St Thomas. Looking for a different Caribbean island each year. Want an AI as we like to eat and drink a lot ( it's vacation after all), but we also like to sightsee. We try to keep the budget around 5000. We like a resort that has more to do at night than just sit and watch a show. As long as the beaches and water are clean we don't have to have the gorgeous white sand, although it is a plus. Please help.

Type "All inclusive" in the search box then look for responses from KVR - she's the "Fodors Resident Expert" on All Inclusive Resorts.

There are AIs all over the Caribbean that would meet the criteria of being able to eat and drink alot and sightsee. The major islands all have them, Jamaica, Antigua, Barbados, St Lucia, Tobago, Grenada for example. The budget of $5k is not that much (if it is for 2) and none of the AIs we have stayed in have much more than a show in the evenings for entertainment. But all of these islands mentioned have night life outside the hotels that you can easily go to (with the exception of Jamaica which might be a bit scarey in some areas outside the resort). Antigua, Barbados and Grenada have white sand beaches, St Lucia has lighter colour beaches in the north and darker sand beaches in the south, Tobago has a mix.

Thanks RoamsAround

Of course I am bias and feel that the AI resorts in Mexico are the best. The have more to offer with regards to lux and amenities than any of the Caribbean islands at a much better price. You definitely won't be spending $5000 there and will probably get way more than what you found in Aruba or St. Thomas. I know we did.

There are several AI choices in the Caribbean also. To help you get started here's a good list for Mexico and the Caribbean. We have been to several.
