looking for a lively island

2 women looking for some nightlife and nice beaches. 1 married 1 single. Don't want a "hedonism" place, yet somewhere to meet friends and maybe someone for the single gal to flirt with!
Anywhere in the Carribean is OK.
Thanks!

Cancun (and points south) has gorgeous beaches, great nightlife and lots of good restaurants.
If you must have an island, Cozumel and Puerto Rico also have the above.
If you are looking for a more West Indian feel, Trinidad has a lot to see and do. St. Martin has glitzy discos.
Almost EVERY Caribbean island has some nightlife - even if it's a loud raucous sreet party that runs all night.

Lisa:

This Nancy definitely agrees with the former Nancy that Cancun would be the place. If you don't want an Island, try Las Vegas or South Beach Florida, lots of great flirting for the single gal and great nightlife!

St. Martin. I'd recommend it for singles, couples, seniors. There is so much to do and at all price ranges. Lots of beach bars, bars, casino's; restaurants both fancy and casual. Beautiful beaches with clear water. A variety of accommodations plus you get both Dutch and French influences and can take a day trip to Saba, St. Barths or Anguilla.

Cancun and Puerto Rico are also good choices for great nightlife but I didn't care for the food in Cancun when I traveled there in 1994. Between my husband and I we never both had a good meal. Food was very average. PR had great food but the beach in Dorado wasn't as nice as the ones we visited in Cancun.

St. John's in the USVI has beautiful beaches and also easily accessible to St. Thomas and the BVI. Had quiet a bit of nightlife in 1999 but in a concentrated area.

Not the Caribbean but I would look into Los Cabos in Mexico, plenty of information online. A bunch of girls we know traveled there and had a great time.
