Long Island, Bahamas off-beach snorkeling

If you have snorkeled from the beach on Long Island (Bahamas), we'd like to have your comments. How does it compare with St. John or Bonaire or other Caribbean snorkeling spots? What are your favorite off-beach snorkeling places? Thanks for your help!

The off beach snorkeling on Long Island is nowhere near as good as what you found on St. John and Bonaire. The water on the Atlantic (east) side can get quite rough and is difficult to snorkel and you need a boat to reach the best sites on the calmer leeward (west) side.
