Leaving Next Week for St. John -- Restaurants
Leaving week for St. John (YEA!!!!). Since we'll be there for two weeks, we'll have plenty of time to try different restaurants. We've tried Asolare, Lime Inn, Stone Terrace and, of course, Joe's BBQ. Anything new in town that we should try? Also, how is Agave Terrace on St. Thomas (we will be making the trip to STT only once so please let me know if it's worth it)? Thanks!!

That should have begun "Leaving NEXT week..." Apologies for the typo.

Oh I envy you!
Have you ever tried "Paradiso" in town? We went there about 1 year 1/2 ago. The food was delicious. Have a great time. |
Miss Lucy's for Sunday Brunch is a must, Skinny Legs & Island Blues for sandwich/burger & a beer type lunches, all in the Coral Bay area. ZoZo's at Gallows Point for nice dinner, Rhum Lines in Cruz Bay for Tapas or nice dinner as well. Have a great time in STJ!!

The Fish Trap; dined there in 1998. The food was great but don't know if it's still in business (should be!)

We just got back from St. John 20July - and had some wonderful meals...Asolare, La Tapa (next to Woody's), Paradiso (I understand the former chef is back & is the executive chef at both Asolare & Paradiso... have the duck appetizer at Paradiso - it's to die for). I'm not a big fan of Fish Trap - with what you pay, I'd rather not sit on plastic chairs... my seared tuna had a thick layer of what seemed to be teriyaki sauce on it.
Casual - we liked Shipwreck Landing on the other side of the island - missed eating at Lucy's this time. We also like the Beach Bar in town (by Low Key Water Sports) - it's not much but the sandwiches are good - we like the jerk chicken sandwich. In St. Thomas, for one meal - I would suggest Craig & Sally's - it's in French Town. You might be a little surprised when the taxi pulls up in front of the place but it is fabulous (make sure they call you a cab when you leave, you don't want to roam around there). If you like wines, the list is incredible (there are cases in the restaurant). Have fun! |
My favorites are La Tapa and Ten Tables. Both were excellent.

Paradiso!!! We went 4 times last summer (Asolare was closed for holiday, sadly) and loved it!! Such creative, delicious food and a great atmosphere! Definitely, don't miss it! I think it is in Mongoose Junction (if that is the name of the little shopping area). Have fun!

Thank you all soooooo much. Yes, we're very excited to be leaving though I must admit I'm a little nervous about this tropical depression forming. Anyway, any opinions on Agave? We heard the view is amazing. Where is Ten Tables on St. John? Also, I do have to admit that I like the chicken sandwiches at the Beach Bar -- with a couple of Painkillers and you're all set!!
