Ladera or Anse Chastanet

Trying to deside between Ladera and Amse Chastanet...Has anyone been to both and would reccommend one over the other? I would also love to hear any reviews about either resort.

Thanks.

Both Anse Chastanet and Ladera offer rooms with no fourth wall.

Ladera is high up on a hillside and has fabulous views but only a small pool. The resort offers a shuttle to a beach but is otherwise kind of isolated, though you can get into Soufriere easily enough.

Anse Chastanet has more facilities and a good dive operation. There is a beach on site, though it is down many, many stairs. I am not going to double-check prices, but I think they are similar, unless you want to splurge for the ultra-luxurious and special suites at Jade Mountain (an Anse Chastanet spin-off), but these are out of reach for most normal humans at over $1000 per night. Anse Chastanet is a little closer to Soufriere but down a very rough road.

I visited Anse Chastanet for an evening and it was absolutely stunning. Everything you think a gorgeous caribbean resort would look like. The road is absolutely terrible...so makes you feel like you are in a hideway. But if you want to go on many excursions, the road could get to you. Though they do do a lot by sea there.

are you going with family or a couple? if it was your family i would DEFINITELY say anse chastanet...ladera is absolutely beautiful but it is very quiet and there is NOTHING to do. if you are a couple and the no children, sipping cocktails in an open lounge which looks onto the majestic pitons and the sea, with great food and three wall rooms with your own little pool sounds good, go to ladera.

One of my best friends went on her honeymoon to Anse Chastanet last May. She thought it was beautiful, awe inspiring, etc., but she said she was really uncomfortable due to the lack of a/c in the rooms. I don't know if that is important to you, or if you are aware of that, but it is something to consider.

If I were planning a more active vacation and using my hotel more as a homebase for exploring the rest of the island, I would choose Ladera. That way I would have a fantastic oasis awaiting me every night after my active day.

If I wanted to spend more time on the beach and more time at the resort in general, I would choose Anse Chastenet because it has more to offer onsite. The rooms up on the hillside might be a pain in the patootie to go back to during the day if something was forgotten in the room, but it would still be a lot easier than hauling oneself back to another hotel altogether if something important were left behind.

If I were more in the mood for a traditional resort without sacrificing beauty and comfort, I'd choose the Jalousie Plantation. The location is stunning and one still gets lots of privacy with the plunge pools & villa set up, plus traditional ameneties like air conditioning, etc.

I wouldn't hesitate to stay at any of the three, and in fact a perfect vacation for me might include splitting a stay to include two of the three.

I agree with everything said here, just wanted to add that Anse Chastanet has both beachfront rooms, and hillside rooms (hillside also comprises different levels, including standard, superior, premium and the aforementioned Jade Mountain, further UP). Although the hillside rooms are a "pain in the patootie" to get to, they are much preferred over the beachfront rooms, which can be very still and just don't have the charm or the views of those octagonal superior hillside rooms. I am thinking mah's friends stayed in the beachfront rooms without A/c.

Have fun deciding!
