Ladera or Anse Chastanet

Any recommendations on which one to pick? We are a couple in 30s looking for honeymoon spot with some activities, great food, good beaches and great service. We are currently looking at these two properties but are open to suggestions on St. Lucia or other islands. Thank you.

Ladera's Dasheene is one of the caribbean's best restaurant and the views of the Pitons are amazing. The rooms are great if you don't mind three walls. The beach down at Jalouise is also good tucked between the Pitons and is white sand with good snorkeling - the downside is that you have to drive down to the beach.

I did not stay at Anse but spent some time there. It is a black sand beach. The snorkeling is okay as is the food. I would go for Ladera or Jalouise.

My husband and I would rate Anse Chastanet and our premium hillside room the best place we've ever stayed (but haven't experienced Ladera so I cannot compare.) No marble, just a nice huge 3-walled room with views over the pitons and the ocean. The watersports guy spent an hour in a sailboat giving my husband a lesson, and we thought the snorkeling was very good. I also enjoyed the yoga and pilates. Food was very good with plenty of variety and nice presentation. We were given great service by everyone, and hope to return someday.

Why don't you stay at both? We did, for our 25th wedding anniversary. We preferred Anse Chastenet over Ladera. The beach is wonderful and know that we also spent time on the Hilton beach. We also liked the food better at the Anse. Interestingly enough from everything I'd read, I had thought Ladera would have been the better of the two resorts and we booked it second saving the last for best. But there is no doubt in my mind that it is the Anse Chastenet we would return to hands down. Don't get me wrong, Ladera is a beautiful resort, but there is more of a local West Indies feel to Anse Chastenet. Also, I would not describe their beach as black sand. The sand is more of a grey but the effect of the palm trees on the beach make it a mini tropical paradise. I'm talking about the private end, not the end where people snorkle. Again I would do both . On the third day we packed up and went for a private taxi tour of the southern part of the island and had the driver leave us at Ladera.
Good luck!

We've stayed at both, and I agree with daffy2 on all counts.
