I've been told that no two rooms are the same at Ladera so I'm sure the bathrooms vary depending on your room as well. We stayed in a relatively simple room, the least expensive room with a plunge pool that you could get. Our bathroom -- I'm testing my memory for details here -- had a large shower (fit 2 easily) but no tub (the plunge pool was in the living area, underneath the loft-style bedroom). Hot water and shower pressure were fine. (By the way, we drank the tap water the whole time we were there and it was great.) The bathroom itself was large by any standard, with a big countertop so you could spread out all your stuff, and natural wooden drawers and cabinets under the sink (lots of storage space for toiletries, etc.). There is no hair dryer mounted in the bathroom, but they have a bunch of them in the office, and if you ask they will give you one to use for the length of your stay. There were adequate electrical outlets. The floor was either wooden or large ceramic tile; I can't remember (the floor in the rest of the room was definitely wood). They used real seashells in the decor (a large scallop shell for a soapdish, a huge conch shell to prop open the bathroom door, etc.). There was a wooden toothbrush/cup holder mounted on the wall. There were windows in the bathroom but they were kind of high up so it would be difficult, if not impossible, for anyone to see in. I don't remember the mirror being huge but it was certainly adequate. Plenty of big towels (if you put them on the floor, housekeeping replaces them; you can get beach towels at the office or just ask for them any time). They did provide the usual little soap, shampoo, conditioner stuff. They also provided very nice blue-and-white-striped seersucker bathrobes, which were folded neatly on our pillows when we arrived; we never used them. I would agree that it could have used a little brighter lighting; it seemed kind of dark, especially in the shower. But that would be my only complaint. I wouldn't say it was a "luxurious" bathroom, but spacious, comfortable and in keeping with the general decor and attitude of the place -- the natural local products used (hardwoods, field stone, etc.) lend sort of a casual, rustic feeling -- nothing fancy, which we liked. I understand what some of the previous posters are saying about liking huge plush bathrooms, but that just wouldn't be in keeping with Ladera's setting at all. What is special about the place is the way it fits in so perfectly in the natural surroundings, without overwhelming them, so the focus is on the incredible views around you rather than on gold-and-marble fixtures. Trust me, the effect is stunning. When you're lying in your bed staring out at the mountains and the Caribbean with nothing between it and you, and can feel the breeze blowing in off the water, I promise you will not be thinking about the bathroom! And I'm told that some of the larger rooms do have pretty stunning bathrooms -- open-air showers, etc. Our regular one was very nice though and we were perfectly happy with it. Plus the little gekkos scampering in and out of the windows were fun to watch while we brushed our teeth... <BR> <BR>Have a great time!
