I have read wildly varying reviews about this hotel on this site, some dating to a year ago. Has anyone been there recently who can offer an opinion. Some of the issues I recall are that there was lots of renovation going on and the staff was not helpful/rude.<BR><BR>Thanks for any input.

Never mind. I had read the reviews in the hotel section. I scrolled further in this section and read all of the bad reviews. I think I have my answer.

Not sure what your decision was but I just have to say I thought this place was gorgeous. Way, way, way out of our leaque price wise but when recently in St. Martin, we were taken by here to see how the other half lives. Didn't see any renovations in the common area by the pool..I just remember looking out to Long Bay and thinking how the sunset from either the beach or by the pool must be absolutely spectacular. At $795 U.S. per night for a basic room during the high season, can the staff really be that rude/not helpful??

At the last minute we reserved at Grand Case Beach Club. The reviews were pretty good on this site. Doesn't compare at all to the prices at La Samanna. I'm not expecting fantastic but hope it's nice. Never been to St. Martin before.

You'll like the Grand Case area. It's my favorite area of SXM. Have fun!

I've been staying there September last year: it's a phantastic place! No construction noise.
