La Luna - Grenada
 

Help needed here. How do the beaches (i.e. clean and that beautiful crystal clear blue color) compare to Bermuda and St. John, USVI, our two favorite islands. <BR><BR>La Luna Resort sounds wonderful but I would love some information about the island, the resort and the beaches. <BR><BR>Look forward to your comments.

Grenada has a beautiful beach - Anse - that, between your 2 noted islands, is more like St. John, I'd say, rather than Bermuda (others might note different).<BR><BR>LaLuna is a very nice resort; the decor and accommodations / setting keeps within the natural surroundings of the property. I like Spice Island Resort, but that's just preference.<BR><BR>You can do a search on this bb about LaLuna; you can also check any search engine on the Net re: Grenada. There's many things to do/not do, if you want. Grenada has history, beauty, and you can over to the sister island, Carriacou(sp?) for a day trip.<BR><BR>Hope this helps.

GM - What was it about Spice Island resort that you liked better than La Luna. I appreciate you responding to my question above.<BR><BR>Thanks so much...You seem to have travelled to many island.

Both resorts are very nice; our preference is for Ritz-Carlton type accommodations. LaLuna is more on the exotic-primitive side, and that's just not us (again, our preference - not knocking the resort AT ALL).<BR><BR>Plus, Spice Island is on a better beach and not as close to the airport as La Source and La Luna (La Source's beach is pretty rocky).<BR><BR>We like AIs, and altho LaLuna has a meal plan that can be included, La Source and Spice Island are AI.<BR><BR>Again, this is just us; not flaming anything here, 'to each his/her own.'

LaLuna sounds nice but you should also look into LaSource. We went there last spring between seasons and got such a good deal. We are not usually the all-inc. travelers to Caribbean, usually like to go out on our own, but this place was heaven it was hard to leave the beach. Yes, it is close to the airport but very rarely can you hear a plane. It is at the far end of the island too, away from the traffic of St. George's and the other resorts. The beach was wonderful, soft white sand and not a cut through for a lot of locals like the larger beaches. Very quiet, excellent food, drinks served to you on the beach, any activity you want to do or learn or just not do anything at all, and any spa treatment you desire per day (incl. with price). It's definitely worth a day trip to the crater lake, waterfall, nutmeg factory and spice plantation. And a must do is the market in St. Georges on Sat. What a georgeous town, the old buildings and harbor, very friendly people too.

Although, we have never done an AI, have heard mixed reviews and really like to go out when we visit the island to local places. That's why we opted for a villa when we visited St. John. Villas are our first choice.<BR><BR>This time we would like a small resort where we can put our feet practically on the sand when we wake up in the mornings.<BR><BR>Thanks to both of you. I will look into both resorts.

Agree with poster 'luvtheislands' that LaSource's accommodations (AI and daily spa treatment) are wonderful. We love the sister resort to LaSource in St. Lucia, LeSport, as well.<BR><BR>Especially agree with their Grenada input on visiting the spice plantation and nutmeg factory - you can purchase little baskets filled with all kinds of wonderful spices to use at home, and remind you of a nice vacation.

By the way we purchased some spice baskets from a woman outside the nutmeg factory (which we found really interesting, the efficient operation hasn't changed much since &quot;colonial times&quot;). When I got home &amp; opened one of the packages to make pumpkin pie, &amp; found to my dismay that there was no nutmeg in it!
