LA CABANA IN ARUBA
 

Has anyone been there lately. I am considering a trip with 4 teenagers.

You have made a good choice. The La Cabana is a very
large resort across the street from the beach. There
are a lot of families and lots of kids of all ages,
and since it is a suite with kitchen it will save
you a lot of money. Take soda and snax with you.Go
to (olmco.com/bbs) a really active BB just about

Just got back from La Cabana on Monday of this week. <BR>Excellent place to go for people of all ages. Met a lot of honeymooners, people with little children and middle age folks. Didn't meet anyone with teenagers but saw them there. There is something to do for everyone. Teenagers will probably love the waterslide in one of the three pools. The beach is beautiful and there are lots of watersport possibilities that are easily accessible. There is also a gameroom and I believe there are some planned activities for teenagers if they're interested in that sort of thing. Do not buy snacks in their little convenience store. You will pay way too much for that particular convenience. Take the bus ($1) to the grocery store if you can't fit snacks in your luggage. For peace and quiet for yourself, go to the pool with the waterfall.

Sorry to be negative, but I would never recommend the LaCabana. I suppose it is adequate but does not compare to the other accomodations available on Aruba. In many years of travelling, the LaCabana is the only hotel I have moved out of after one night's stay. We have travelled to Aruba numerous times and were just not pleased with LaCabana due to cleanliness, the fact that it reeked of roach spray, and the overall facilities of the place. We risked losing our money by moving, but managed to salvage our trip. IF it is imperative that you have a kitchen we have heard good reports on the Playa Linda. Other than that, I recommend the Hyatt Regency as the best place to stay (our favorite) and would even stay at the Holiday Inn before staying at the LaCabana if you are trying to save money. The beach at the LaCabana is across the road and is probably the worst beach in Aruba in regards to no wind break, water quality, beach service, etc. Good luck on your trip! I think you will Aruba. It is our favorite beach destination.

We stayed at LaCabana in January. Our suite was in the back portion looking into the courtyard (there are two lovely swimming pools) but we were near the end of the building and also had a view of the ocean. Check out their website at www.lacabana.com It is a beautiful resort, and we had no complaints at all. It is listed as a 5 Star Resort in our timeshare directory and I would say that it definitely deserves the rating. I'm sure you'll love it. Val
