La Cabana???

Just talked to a travel agent offering a week in Aruba at La Cabana for a great rate...Is it that bad? We just want a nice place with sun and water and I know there are wonderful restaurants for dinner..This deal is $880.00 including airfare so is this too good to be true???

La Cabana is the largest resort and very family oriented. It is not directly on the beach but across the street so depending where your rooms are it can be a haul. Good location as it is midway between the high-rises and downtown. Just hop the bus that stops in front of the resort. And, yes, that is a good price.

La Cabana is not luxurious but who can complain at that price? The weather is great, the beach is fabulous and the "road" between the resort and the beach is just a small service road, we didn't find it a problem at all. Try to get a room in the La Cabana Resort and not the Villas, the Villas are in the back with no view whatsoever. If you get in the La Cabana Resort you at least have a chance of getting a view - try for 3rd floor or higher. Hint: If you go on their website under owners they have a floorplan with room numbers (at least they used to) maybe you can use it to request a good room. We had room 304C which had a nice ocean view and wasn't far to the beach at all. Believe me, it would be a very nice vacation for the price.

La Cabana would not be my choise BUT with a great price - go for it! You spend sooo little time in your room - it really is not a huge issue.

Aruba is a wonderful island to visit. The price sounds great and so I would take advantage of it. However, La Cabana is located directly across the street from the beach and is located on the main highway and not a service road. Unlike the Hyatt, Marriot, Radisson, Allegro and Wyndham which are located on directly on Palm Beach accessed easily by a walkway. La Cabana is closer to town. Also the beach is public and tends to be crowded with locals. It is an expensive island so why not take advantage of the price. Enjoy!

My husband and I stayed at La Cabana 2 years ago and although we had a nice vacation it was very crowded and there were tons of children--but if that doesn't bother you then go for it especially at that price.

My husband and I honeymooned at LaCabana 3 years ago. It is not luxurious, however all of the rooms are suites (with kitchens, balconies, ect.) We had a wonderful time! The rooms were clean, the pools were nice, and the beach is beautiful! It's true that it is located across the street from the beach, but it is not a major throughway, it's easy to cross, and not a far walk. If you choose to stay there, ask if any upgrades are available when you arrive, and you may get a beach view. We were on the other side and had a nice view of the pool.
The beach was crowded on the weekends, so we rented a jeep and headed toward the lighthouse where we found our own private beach we wound up traveling to each day.
You can't beat that price, and it's definately worth the stay - Aruba is fantastic.
