Hi. Hope you had fun on your trip! I am going to Jamaica in the spring. Staying Mo Bay at least 3 nights. Looking for suggestions on lodging, food, sights, beaches, etc..........and what to avoid. Also looking for any helpful info for a female traveling solo there. Thanks!

didn't spend any time in Mo Bay. We stayed at Negril. Take a lot of dollar
and five dollar bills. We really enjoyed
Negril. We went inclusive and found that
a nice way to go.People were really friendly, never had any problems. make sure if you take a cab that the license plate is red and has the letters "PP". this notates a licensed cab.Do a thorough search on this website and others for opinions on hotels in Mo Bay.
We were concerned about some of the postings on here that were very negative. we found that the negative postings were pretty much unfounded

I've been saying that. I have found that most of the negativity on these forums is unfounded. Keep those positive attitudes coming!

Which inclusive resort did you stay at? I am leaving for Sandals Negril for my honeymoon on 9/26. What was the tax when you left Jamaica?

we stayed at the poinciana, which is now
a part of sandals. All of the sandals at
negril looked very nice. enjoyed our trip immensely and already look forward to returning. the departure tax was
$26.00 US.

by the way, be prepard to barter when buying items off the property. the jamaicans usually price all merchandise at twice what they will accept. we thought that rick's cafe on the cliffs was over-hyped. the view and cliffdiving was nice, but the atmosphere wasn't anything special. take along a small box of laundry detergent. the cost to wash and dry one load of laundry was $10 US. we just washed them in the tub and let dry.

i dont know why everyone is so adverse to just posting a trip report. the majority of the questions are so simple and could be answered by just posting a report...just my 2 cents

I would love to know more about Poinceana (sp?)-how was the beach, food, nightlife, activities, particularily kids activities. I have been watching for months and don't find a lot of postings about this hotel. Thanks!!

the beach was clean and about 30 deep by 800 feet long. they had all the usual beach activities included, such as snorkeling, windsurfing, kayaking, glass bottom boat rides, etc. DID not include scuba diving. Night life was ok, had the usual house band playing reggae for a few hours, plus a fashion show, talent show, fire dancers, jamaican dancers, etc.we didn't check out the kids activ., although there seemed to be alot on the activity board for the kids everyday, plus babysitting upon request(extra). the food was VERY good, as was all forms of service. the bartenders were pleasant and we got to know a few of them(tip them). the two formal restaurants would rival most upscale restaurants in the US.if i forgot anything, just ask
