Just returned Breezes Runaway Bay

Just returned from Breezes Runaway Bay with my best friend. Had a fantastic time and we are already making plans to return soon. The Jamaican people are so wonderful. I would be happy to answer any questions I can. Feel free to email me or post on the board.

Thinking of staying at Breezes Runaway in January,'03. have been reading mixed reports. Did you golf; if yes, how was the course?Have stayed at mostly 6 rated Apple resorts - is this comparable? Have you stayed anywhere else in Jamaica? Any favorite area? Thanks so much!

Do they still offer arts & crafts? We stayed at this property about 7 years ago and I still love the crafts I made on that trip! They had a really talented guy run the studio. I don't remember his name, but he did have a lame leg...is he still there?

We are eagerly awaiting our Jan. 15 trip to BRB. Anyone been lately? If so, how was it? Also, we will be there for four nights - might do one excursion. Already done river "rafting" on the Martha Brae and climbed Dunn's River Falls. Anyone have a suggestion for some time out of the resort? Thanks.

I have heard that the horseback riding trips are great but have not actually done one myself in Jamaica. The resort itself was a blast and I long to return again soon..we are headed to the Riu in Negril on Jan 5., will post when i get back:)

Linda:Some interesting 'outside-the-resort' options (you can also e-mail expert guide carolyn barrett at [email protected] for her sampler of half, full and more day privately-guided explorations island-wide).

1)YS Falls/Black River -- a full day,go early
2)Horseback at Orange Grove,Chuka Cove polo grounds or Good Hope
3)Olde Taverne Estate coffee bean plantation and private waterfalls
4)Snorkeling w/stingrays
5)Caving -- either mild or Indiana Jones style at Windsor or Quashi River Sink
6)Port Antonio/and an overnight at a simple coldwater shack, Yahimba Cottage, on the best surfer's beach in Long Bay or,more luxe, at Goblin Hill
7)Gallery-shopping/arts and crafts to finer carvings and paintings
8)A 'James Bond was here' tour or just a tour of the best offbeat jerk pork/fish/chicken shacks

There's lots to discover, outside the gates...
Thanks for the tips. We leave on Wednesday and will let you know if we try anything new. Maybe horseback riding in the surf?
