Craig, bringing this to the top. Hoped you might elaborate on your experiences snorkeling, and general impressions of the island and where you stayed. It's nice to see information posted here so many can benefit, but if you prefer direct e-mail correspondence, let us know. Thanks

I would like to hear about Old San Juan area. I keep getting completely different perspectives-from filthy city to beautiful and historic. I know we all have different expectations, but I'm really not getting a good idea of what to expect. I will be staying in OSJ for 2 days. Please email me and tell me what you thought of the area. Thanks.

Maja, San Juan is a very old, beautiful and historic city. Like all old cities it has less than immaculate areas. This goes for all the great European cities like Venice, Rome,Paris etc.
In the States New Orleans is old and historic, but many people see it as an arm-pit. People are people and all have different experiences. I for one love the old city of San Juan. I know its history and know where to go.Compared to other old cities, it's well kept. You just have to know where and when to go.Get an old city map and get acquainted. It's a small area, easily seen on foot, avoid the cobblestones. Your feet will ache later.
