June honeymoon suggestions?
Hi there - (oops - I replied to someone's message rather than making a new one - sorry!) My fiance and I are looking for a wonderful honeymoon in mid-June 2002. We are looking into Jamaica, Antigua, Cayman, etc. We want a nice beach (that's our main priority), all-inclusive... Any suggestions on what's best with around a $5,000 budget? Thanks!

Amy,
Grand Cayman only has two all-inclusives on the island, and personally I wouldn't stay at either! But, Seven Mile beach is absolutely gorgeous, and there are many accomodations there, well within your budget. The reason there are so few AI, is that there's so many great restaurants on the island. Going the condo route is also big on GC!! Most are right on the beach, with snorkeling right from the beach. Check out www.caymanvacations.com or www.gotocayman.com for info on the island and accomodations. If the beach is your main priority, you can't go wrong with Seven Mile beach!

We have been to both Antigua and Jamaica and we really enjoyed both islands but partial to the beaches in NEgril, Jamaica. It has some of the best snorkling and scuba in the Caribbean, long white stretches of white sand, calm waters and the most beautiful susnets. There are tons of all-inclusives there. We have been to Sandals NEgril and Grand Lido and while they are different in atmopshere, we loved them both.

Sandals Antigua, however, was one of the prettiest resorts we have ever been to. It is on a very nice long beach, the grounds are very lush and tropical and it has a great romantic, relaxed atmopshere.

Amy:Suggest you look into renting out
main house or a cottage at GOLDENEYE, Ian Fleming's beachfront estate in Orcabessa, now owned by Chris Blackwell. It's one of the best destinations on island for honeymooners and far more romantic than any Sandals. See islandoutpost.com

Sandals Negril is just what you are loking for ck out the Sandals sight at www.sandals.com.

Jamaica--yuck! Sorry but it's dangerous, GORGEOUS but dangerous. Jamaicans are freindly and of good humor but the poor country is a slum. Cayman is safer, has best beaches by FAR! (Look at properties at Rum Point if you want privacy...) The Westin's not all-inclusive BUT it's on a great part of the beach, very good food, near shoppign, nightlife, etc.

Thanks for all the help everyone - I appreciate it!
