June Caribbean Vacation...where?

I would like to surprise my wife with a 5 day trip to the Caribbean, but have not clue which locations are the best. We are in our mid 30's, usually like a nice relaxing atmosphere, preferable adults only. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance!

First, since 5 days is a relatively short visit you'll probably want to go somewhere you can reach in a relatively short travel time (hopefully non-stop from your nearest International Gateway airport. So, where will you be traveling from?

There's really no one "best island" only "different ones" and since no two islands are alike we need more information from you. You have to tell us what you like, dislike, what you think you'd like to do and see while on the trip. Quite honestly you'll find most islands and hotels/resort in the Caribbean have a "relaxing atmosphere" and you can find "adults only" resorts on most islands. so, what else do you want?

June is an excellent time of year to travel to the Caribbean - especially in the early weeks as the weather is usually very good, there will be fewer families as children are still in school and it's Low Season meaning fewer crowds and some of the best room rates of the year.

Speaking of room rates - what's your budget for accommodations? Give a specific dollar range. Don't use nebulous terms like "affordable", "won't break the bank" etc. as we have no idea what you can afford or how strong your" bank is. Tell us too, if that budget includes airfare, food and activities. No sense making resort recommendations if they are out of your budget?

Thank you for the reply! I am open to more days...up to 10 max. I will be flying from DFW airport.

My wife has been talking about an island that she can just unwind and decompress.Activities wise of course we are pretty much open to anything such as snorkeling. I am a big foody so a place with great restaurants would be nice.

My budget for hotel is up to 500 a night. Food and air are separate.

If snorkeling is a high priority for you look at Grand Cayman, the US Virgin Islands (especially St. John), the British Virgin Islands (especially Virgin Gorda) and Providenciales in the Turks & Caicos. in June you should have no difficulty finding very nice accommodations in the $500/night range on any of those islands.

If "great restaurants" are high on your must have list look at Anguilla or St, Barths. These islands are a little harder to reach because they involve flying into St. Martin and then taking an island hopper flight or ferry to reach but they have some of the best restaurants in the Caribbean. Snorkeling on those islands is OK but not anywhere near as good as on the other islands I mentioned. These are "pricey" destinations but in June you should be able to find some accommodations in your price range.

Great food & great snorkeling = Grand Cayman. The hotels are over priced on GC, look for a condo on 7 Mile Beach. Should be simple for your budget.

There are many beautiful ports in the Bahamas, such as Nassau, Freeport & Exuma. Great food, beautiful clear waters for snorkeling with many starfish, turtles, and many fish to see in Nassau. Awesome conditions for paddle boarding as well, my family and I had a great experience for our first paddle boarding lesson with PappaSurf on Cable Beach and doing it in the bahamas was the cherry on top!

Check out resorts on Turks and Caicos on Grace bay beach. Quiet relaxed atmosphere (as long as you dont stay at Beaches resort). The beach itself is gorgeous and shoudl be a quick flight from DC. Some very nice restaurants too.

I would suggest going to St.John they have an equal amount of beautiful beaches as well as a cute town with great restaurants--- although St.Maarten also has very good restaurants (ive had the best italian meal here!) and also has beautiful beaches (Orient Bay)!

Check out Turks and Caicos. Easy flight for you, gorgeous beach and condos. Look at WEST BAY CLUB, THE VENETIAN,(luxe) THE SANDS, OCEAN CLUB ( a little less luxe). There are lots of excellent restaurants on the island, so as a foodie you should be very happy!

I strongly suggest looking into cruises that go to Trujillo Honduras and or Roatan Honduras. Honduras is the most beautiful country in Central America and is still largely undiscovered as a tourist destination by Americans, which makes it exotic. Honduras.com is a good place to start your search as well as puntaizoporesort.com

The House in Barbados is adults only and currently has a 35% off special for summer between June and September. This time of year is great for activities as well because it is the beginning of the Crop Over Festival.
