Jost Van Dyke villa rental recommendations?

Hi! So our next trip is officially booked. We're staying at a beautiful villa, Island Stones, overlooking Cinnamon Bay with friends for a week in June. We would like to tack on about 4 more nights at a villa on Jost Van Dyke, which we've been to before on a day trip, but loved it so much we'd like to spend a few days exploring the island. Has anyone on this forum rented a villa there, and if so do you have recommendations? It looks like there are two main places to rent villas on the island: Sandy Ground and White Bay. I'd love to gain any insight from people who have rented here, as well as any other activities to do (other than the obvious Foxy's and Soggy Dollar). We're looking to spend a full day at Soggy Dollar, and either rent a house with a boat or rent a dinghy for a day and tool around, checking out the bays and returning to my personal all time favorite, Sandy Spit. I'm not sure if our full St. John group will do this or not, but we're looking at villas between 3-6 bedrooms. Thanks!!!

I saw a few nice villas on VRBO.com and a few had rental reviews.

Oooh, sounds great! I just stepped foot on Jost for the first time a few days ago and it was gorgeous. My husband stayed there about 30 years ago when roads and electricity were pretty scarce. I'd love to go back and spend a few days there, so I'm eager to see what responses you get here.

First of all, I cannot believe that ejcrowe just now set foot on JVD!! You gotta get off Tortola from time to time.

As far as villas on JVD go, you already have it narrowed down. For 3 - 6 BRs your only real options are White Bay Villas or Sandy Ground.

If it turns out to be just you two, Sandcastle is a good option if its not already full. You can always venture forth for your JVD exploration if the Soggy Dollar gets to be too much.

Dave, you're funny! I've only been to Tortola once. And Virgin Gorda once. It took a trip to St. John to get me to Jost, though! (had to get that passport stamp somehow!)

Thanks! Sandcastle is out since it's no kids. We've contacted White Bay and are hoping to stay at one of those villas for a few days. Thanks!

Hi Kellybeaches,
We actually stayed at Island Stones last year and loved it! Here's a review of the villa on my blog. Any questions, I'd be happy to help!

Hi Susan,
Thanks so much for sharing your blog! It sounds like you had a great trip, and the villa looks beautiful. I can't wait!!! We've been renting villas in the Caribbean for about 10 years now and love it, especially with kids in tow :) Can you share with me who your friend who is a professional photographer is? Our friends are looking to have their family photos done at the villa during our trip. Also, the dinner by Ted looked amazing! What's his info? Did you guys play in the game room at all? It looks so nice! Thanks again for sharing!

Hi Kelly,
Yes we did have a great trip. It was the first villa we ever rented and it was a good one for sure. We are going to try Kaleidoscope Villa on Ditleff point next time.

My friend lives on St Thomas and her name is Ashley Armitage. I think she has a facebook page that you can do a search on and maybe contact her that way-

Ted's Supper Club is great! His food was outstanding. I highly recommend having him do a private dinner the last night of your stay. That way you can eat to your heart's content and not worry about wearing a bathing suit the next day :)

He'll work too with you as far as pricing, dietary concerns, etc.

We didn't really use the game room at all. We spent a lot of time just taking in the view. The photos don't even do it justice!

Have a great trip

Hi Susan. This is Kristen from VIOL! We discussed Island Stones quite a bit after you returned. I am the friend looking for the photographer so thanks for the link!

I know this is an old post but thought I would post this in case others check out this thread like I did. In my opinion the only villa to rent on JVD is The Great House in Sandy Ground. You need to rent a vehicle and you have to hike about 5 minutes off the main road to get to the villa, but is well worth it. Another great villa is The Pink House Villas in White Bay....haven't stayed there but you can't beat the location.
