Jost Van Dyke Eats

Will go over to Jost on a day sail. When we went before, we stopped at Foxy's for lunch before sailing over to White Bay. I wasn't too impressed with the food at Foxy's. Where would be a good place for lunch in Great Harbor before getting back on the boat for White Bay. Any good lunch places in White Bay too?

There's the Soggy Dollar in White Bay but if you weren't impressed with Foxy's, then you sure won't be impressed by the Soggy Dollar -- I know I wasn't. It was okay -- it will fill the void. The world-famous painkillers were good. You're not going to find gourmet fare on JVD. That said, I've heard good things about Rudy's in Great Harbour and Corsair's.

Quality lunch on JVD is mostly about Painkillers and Rum punches! That having been said, try the burgers at Jewel's on White Bay - wonderful!

Now, supper is something else (if you can stay that late)!

Sandcastle on White Bay (Soggy $ at night) has the most talented and amazing chef I've ever encountered. Kisses to Oliver!!! You won't ever get a better evening meal - ever - anywhere!!!

Corsairs in (was that "Little" or "Great" ?) Harbour is awesome! Vinny and his staff are artists with garlic!

For such a tiny island, there is amazing food here - but mostly at night.

Agreed about Foxy's - OK - but ho-hum.

Sorry - I meant that the Sandcastle Restaurant is the Soggy Dollar in the day time!

We have been going to Rudy's since 1985. He is very, very nice and nothing like Foxy's. If you want a great meal, no flashy atmosphere, hear great stories from Rudy, then that's the place. If you want tourists, then it would be somewhere else. Take a t-shirt with you if you go to Rudy's and put your names on it and hang it up in his restaurant. We did this before our son was born. Just last year we took him on a catamaran vacation, stopped in Rudy's and had him find the t-shirt. It was very special!

ydoc:

Does Rudy still rent rooms at his place? We are interested in staying there but can't find much info.

Bosoco:

Give him a call: I actually googled Rudy's Mariner Inn and got a phone number. 284-495-9282

Tell him, Howard, Lynn and Cody from Chicago say Hi!

Will do! Thanks
