Has anyone actually "stayed" on JVD? We are going to have a chance to spend a few days there. I am looking into Sandcastle, would also rather be on White Bay.

My son stayed @ Sandcastle June '05. He thought it was idyllic. Wonderful beachfront setting, fine beach, snorkeling. Only minus for them was daytrip boaters anchoring off the bar and playing loud music. So if you wanted it quiet, you'd have to move down the beach. Before dark to after breakfast was super quiet. The place has a real "remote outpost" feeling.

I have heard nothing but positive things about the Sandcastle. It is definitely on my list, sans kids.

If the Sandcastle is booked (and it almost always is), look in Purple Pineapple Rentals and/or Gertrude's Bungalows. A more rustic alternative is Ivan's Campground but that would be ruffing it. We stayed in one of Gertrude's Bungalow's and while it was not fancy, it was clean with a nice indoor bathroom and show, and the location was perfect.

i've stayed at Sandcastles ...and love it !! i'll be returning for my 4th stay spring '07. it is tough to get a reservation esp. "high season"..many of sandcastles guests are repeats..you can book the next trip while checking out ! but this is not an impossible feat..just call and see what's available. since you're looking for only a "few" days it might be easier/hope you're flexable ! another nice option is White Bay Villas,of course in white bay. haven't stayed there myself but many have and WBV's always get good reviews !check this site for info...www.jostvandyke.com -- these villas/cottages have great views and are just down the beach from Ivans and Sandcastles/soggy dollar. good luck!

sandyjoy-I just googled Gertrudes Bungalows and could not find anything. do you know how to contact? Sandcastles is totally booked for jan. (and we can be very flexible)

Sorry, think I gave you the wrong site although it still may be another option for you. I don't think Gertrude's has a website. There was a phone number without area code for Gertrude's on a JVD website. 495-9104. Maybe someone can chime in with the area code, otherwise try posting on the BVI forum of TTOL. I'm sure those experts can help you out.

area code is : 284 ...Perfect Pineapple is a "perfect" place, right behind/up slight hill from Sandcastles. guests staying at PP can set up a tab at Sandcastles/Soggy Dollar for meals and...maybe a few painkillers ?? pay at the end of you stay!! just a few mins from your door to the stunning white bay beach. if available..grab it !!!

Was I confused or not? I thought Gertrude ran perfect pineapple, but the website shows Gregory Callwood as the proprieter. At any rate, hope mahobaygirl gets some info from this.

Yup, I've got some info..the email for Perfect Pineapple is down, so I need to call. Perhaps later in the week when I have a day off.
Looks like with the villas, we may need to be on a last minute basis with them, wanting only 2-3 days, they like to book the villas for the week.
