JFK>SXM - Is this a good price?

$465 (before taxes) AA non-stop round trip Easter week 2007?
Would much prefer to leave out of Newark but Continental's price is double that!
Thank you.

Sounds like a pretty decent price to me. Probably about $550 with all taxes, or just a little less?

Are you planning another trip now? :D Is SXM your destination? Or is it Anguilla? Or are you just playing around and finding good airfares in general?

Hi there. I couldn't take all those other posts about 2007 trips when I have none planned!! LOL!
Anguilla is the thought. I'm soooooo undecided though. Every day I think of a different island. :-D . I've thought of Antigua, the BVIs, Barbaros, St. Kitts... see what I mean?!
I did book a hotel in Martinique but it's fully refundable up to the last minute. So until I book a flight, I'm not tied to any island.
I'm actually NOT finding great airfares. I'm finding $800-$1,000 from Newark and I don't think so! So that rate to SXM is pretty good in comparison.

What are you thinking for next year?

That's a great airfare.. I'd book it. I'd also recommend Anguilla.. it's amazin!

Nothing set in stone yet for me in 2007, but we'll definitely be going to Virgin Gorda with one of the granddaughters for about 4-5 nights in July 07. This is the one we took to Tortola last year and she loved it so much that she asked if we would take her again IF she earned her way next time. Well, that kid can save money like nobody's bidness and has about $1000 saved up and ready to go, so next summer it is.

We're also talking with a couple of friends about going back to Grenada and sharing a villa for a week next May, but that plan is pretty nebulous.

I'd be happy going just about anywhere, really, it's just a matter of finding the time off and the right fare to clinch the deal.

Conceivably you'll find lower airfares into SXM before you leave, but since that's a decent fare it's well worth booking now for the peace of mind...but it would be too bad about missing out on Martinique.

Try Saba...read my review!
Out of this world, but down to earth

Our three days on Saba were delightful. It is unlike any other island that we have ever visited. (And we’ve been to just about all.) Everything about it was exhilarating…the roads, the sense of community, and the amazing vistas. And a couple of meals (and wine!) at the Gatehouse made it feel even more special after a day of touring and snooping. Lyliane and Michel Job are as special as the island. Five-Star kudos to you both! Friendly, warm, welcoming, and accommodating. This is a definite stop on a return visit to St. Martin…or better yet, a week’s stay at the Gatehouse Hotel/Villa.

So I booked our hotel in Anguilla (Rendezvous Bay Hotel & Villas) and our airfare to SXM today. I ended up booking Continental from Newark. Instead of doing a Saturday-Saturday trip, I did Monday-Sunday and the airfare CONSIDERABLY dropped. A little more than $465, but a non-stop out of Newark is so worth it for us.
I guess it's Anguilla for April '07! :-)
Thanks for the replies.

caribtraveler: I think that's a great fare for a non-stop from JFK, especially during a holiday week. And you won't regret Anguilla. It's a fabulous island, we went in June, and are thinking about it for next April ourselves.
