jamaican me craze

My girlfriend and I decided to stay at the New Hotel Riu Negril (May). Has anyone been over to see the grounds? Does it look appealing? ie Palm trees planted, flowers, pools etc... Close to completion?(Not open as of yet) Not located on 7 mile beach, but Bloody Bay, is BB as nice? Suggestions on where to snorkel or must do "site" would be appreicated.-

Can't speak to the doneness of the hotel (but can in April after I get back from Negril), but BB is beautiful. You can snorkel there, or swim out towards Booby Cay, or take a boat out. BB is very calm and clear and shallow.

The only negative to being on BB is you have to either walk the road or take a taxi to the main 7 mile beach for nightlife, restaurants, etc.

There is a website that has pictures of the new Riu and you would never know you are in Jamaica. There appear to be fake Greek statues and ruins all around. It does not appear to evidence either Jamaican culture or Caribbean culture, but this is the Riu style - the ubiquitous "you may as well be in Miami" look. The beach is beautiful but I prefer the main Negril beach for all the walking. Take a look and tell me if I am missing something here or does it look strikingly out of place? www.riubambu.com

Oh cartera, they are just bringing awareness of Jamaica's Greek heritage to people's attention. :-)

I think the folks who own Riu owned a cheese factory in an previous life.
