Jamaica trip questions

Hi all, We are heading to Jamaica next week. and we have some questions please hoping yall can help answer them.

Money exchange- should we exchange our money in the USA or do they have money exchange locations in Jamaica? which would be easier/safer? Do they prefer to get paid in american dollars or their currency?

Taxi - is it easy to take a taxi at the airport or should it be reserved prior to arriving? What does a taxi charge? is it per person, per trip or per miles? or should we have our hotel book it for us?

Tours- are the discounts from the hotel really worth it or would it be better to book directly with the tour company? if booked online would it be cheaper then booking it there in person? What;s the best tour company?

any additional information you can provide us will be greatly appreciated.

many thanks!!!

Where is the accommodation? I’ve used Clive’s Transport Service to get to/from Negril from MBJ. They were recommended on this forum, they were very good. They do tours too.

Where are you staying? Many of your questions the answer would be "it depends".. What you need for currency at an All Inclusive resort in Montego Bay would be different than what you'd want if you are staying independently out on the Cliffs in Negril (for example).

You want to reserve your airport transportation in advance. I've used Clive's as mentioned above round-trip my last trip and it worked fine. It was a per person shared shuttle in theory but only one part of one ride was it shared. Having this arranged with Clives in advance will answer all your other questions about costs etc. I would book it yourself, having a hotel do anything pretty much you can assume will cost more! Same for tours.

Yes there are money change locations or ATMs. Again depends where you are staying and what all you plan to do what the best approach is to this.
