My husband and I are traveling to Turks next week for the 1st time and will be staying at the Seven Starts Resort. We have read about renting Vespas and exploring the island, but wanted to know which spots are "must see" and which beaches are great for a romantic picnic and snorkeling. And can you get to Middle Caicos on a Vespa or is car rental necessary for this? We don't plan to keep the Vespas for more than a day. Thanks!

You can rent a vespa (scooter) at Paradise Scooters-- but they are for short distances anyway-- I personally would not venture on highway with guide on them,

For middle, you need ferry ($50 pp rt) from Leeward (so you have to get to Leeward, and I wouldn't leave scooters there) then rental car at North ($85) then drive over to Middle.

Thanks, blamona! What are the best beaches that are close to the Grace Bay area which would be good for snorkeling and a picnic? Would a vespa work to access those? Thanks!

Good snorkeling-- Coral Gardens, Smiths Reef.

Picnic beaches Sapodilla Bay or Taylor Bay-- I would never do Scooter to these myself, require highway, and nowhere to carry picnic basket or other things.

Again, scooters are good for short distance, and never at night! Drivers there can be crazy!

Agree with Blamona, the highways are no place for a scooter. They drive CRAZY there .
