Jamaica show on Travel Channel
 

Just came across an hour-long show on the Travel channel hosted by Peter Greenberg. It's on right now and looks good so just a heads-up for you Jamaica lovers.

I watched this last night and it was pretty good, even though I am not a big fan of Greenberg. I found it interesting that they had enough clout (or money) to actually get the Prime Minister Patterson to be the host of the show. It did do a good job of showing some highlights of Jamaica and Mr. Patterson was entertaining to say the least. One thing that I learned that was interesting was that PM Patterson years ago was the manager of Bob Marley and his band.

If only the TC could get back to showing more of these travel related shows and much, much, much less poker.

I thought i was the only with with issues with the TC... it really sucks to say the least. I remember a few years ago where I could not wait to get home from work to watch. Now, I have no idea where to find it on my cable service.

Combined with a slot on Today Show, the TC show provided PM Patterson with good and much needed PR, given the flack he's been taking on travel expenses, a 'waste management department' scandal, prices increases in electricity that have doubled in one month alone (and more to come), gas increases from US$2.40 to US$4 gallon this week, an expected jump in water rates, a citizenry rahtid angry about city violence against Jamaicans -- and the usual politrix since contenders for next year's election are now joustling in the wings...

So who paid for the show you reckon? You think PM's political funds (re-election money) went for it or did the taxpayer's foot it? Seemed they went everyplace in police/army escorted caravans or by the military helicopter. If all that was done at the taxpayer's expense it seems not good.

PJ is not going for re-election. The transport was most probably complimentary, as the lodging, and donated for credit lines or good will/PR. I think it however highly unlikely that the production costs were sponsored/paid for by Jamaica but by the series production company itself.

The value in marketing vs the comps,however, is a wise investment, esp. since the show is repeated all this month and then will go into syndication for quite some time....like the original Rough Guide series, now renamed World Traveler series.
