Jamaica Half Moon - Mo Bay Violence

Message: Hi all - my niece might be having her wedding
at Half Moon resort in Montgego Bay, Jamaica. Anyone have any recent direct feedback on the resort? My travel
agent recommends it highly and the brochures look great !

Also, any updates on the violence outbreak in Kingston ? Some of the wedding guests are a little anxious - but
given what's happening in our country today, there is no safe place left in this troubled world !

Thanks and my prayers to all during this terrible time

Hi there,

Sorry, I don't know anything about the resort, but I have friends that live in Kingston and they have told me that the news is making the violence in Jamaica sound worse than it really is. I haven't spoken to them in a few weeks, so this information may not be as up-to-date as you would like. However, I have been told that the violence is mostly in Kingston, so you should be fine in Mo Bay. When will your niece's wedding be? Next year may be worse, as that's when the election will be taking place.

I stayed at Half Moon last January and it was absolutely delightful! The food, lodging, staff and facilities were all top- rate and I NEVER felt unsafe!

Kingston is on the other side of a big island.

Half Moon is glorious. There will be no security problems what-so-ever anywhere near Montego Bay. If there are any at all they'd be hours away in Kingston. My wife, 7 yr old and I were there for 2 nights in April. It is a lovely spot.
