Hi, I've been to Jack Tar St. Kitts 3 times and plan to return next month. It is a great resort, very laidback, friendly staff and good food. As far as nightlife is concerned, there is a show each evening at the resort and of course, the casino is open all night. I've not strayed from the resort at night, so I can't really say what kind of nightlife is available elsewhere on the island.

I can't wait to get back to St. Kitts again! E-mail me if you have any other questions.

Laura

I stayed near the Jack Tar Village last year and visited it on two evenings. Frankly, I thought it was kind of cheesy and it reminded me of an old Holiday Inn. If you do stay there make sure you venture around the island - there are many wonderful places to see and places to dine. P.S. Don't go to St. Kitts expecting a beach paradise - it is a beautiful island but the beaches are cruddy. Have fun.

We went last Feb to St. Kitts, and stayed down the road in a condo from Jack Tar Village, and they used the beach down from us. Personally, I thought it was a bit run down and when you took a look round the back of the buildings, it wasn't that great. The casino is small, and the visitors I talked to at the golf course, were not that impressed with Jack Tar. However, if you want a good price all inclusive, this would fit the bill. It's near a nice beach, golf course, etc. However, far out from the town, and there isn't that much night life at night on the island. But, we loved the island, and it's sister, Nevis. We rented a car for the time we were there, and went all over, including the lovely beaches that tourists miss such as Banana Bay, where we were totally alone. Visit the Fort at Brimstone Hill, and the Batik Place, and take the ferry to Nevis, walk up the beach from town to the Four Season's resort, and just have one beer there, although it will cost you. It's one of the foremost resort hotels in the caribbean and a must see, if only for a short while.

Hi, it's me again. I have read the posts here regarding the condition of the resort and thought I should point out the fact that the property is re-opening in May after having been closed since the Hurricane last fall. I assume that a lot of renovations have been done during that time. I will post information here once I return at the end of May.

Laura

We have stayed at Jack Tar in St. Kitts twice, the last time being several years ago. The accommodations were certainly not fancy but adequate for the money. The food was good, some buffet and a few sit down, order-off-the-menu meals. We went with a group and the golfers had a great time. (My husband is golfer). The beaches within walking distance were disappointing in that you could not swim on the Atlantic side because of the wind and surf, and the beach on the carribbean side was not impressive. I did find some moderately good snorkeling right off the carribean beach, but if beautiful beaches are what you are looking for you will not find them within walking distance of the resort. (Take a cab to Turtle Beach for good snorkeling.)

The nightly entertainment was not from the stages of Las Vegas but was really fun. (We didn't leave the resort at night.) The audience participation makes it fun too.

St. Kitts is a pretty island with many hills and lots of monkeys hiding in the trees. The short trip to Nevis is nice, but things are very pricey there and beaches are not impressive.

We felt it was a good value for the money. Have a great time!
