What is the current progress of the clean up in Negril? Thinking of going in May, but from some of the photos I have seen, there was quite a mess.

Are you sure you aren't confusing Grand Cayman? Negril was impacted by the storm, but most places were up and running within a month or two after. You most likely wouldn't even know unless you are very familiar with the area, from what I have heard.

Oh I have seen those....that isn't anything. The simplistic construction used in Negril, and Jamaica in general, is quickly rebuilt! The Boat Bar on Negril beach has been transformed into a two-story structure and has been open for quite some time, for example. Check out the recent trip report posted the other day....no mention of Ivan. Even Norma's, which was hit pretty hard, is open for business and serving its fine menu. As I indicated....most of the damage was repaired very quickly.

Just got back from Negril and everything looks great. They have done a good job repairing the area. The only place we were aware had issues was Rick's. It was destroyed by the hurricane and they are still in the process of rebuilding.

I was in Negril last October, and the cleanup in Negril was still underway. By now, virtually every place---with the exception of Rick's---has reopened, and I doubt you will notice that the hurricane swept through.
