Island-hopping?
My cousin is planning a wedding in Jamaica for next August 2013. My husband and I went to Puerto Rico (including Vieques) last December for our honeymoon and absolutely loved it! Either before or after their wedding weekend, we'd like to explore another Caribbean island. We are very much into hiking and other outdoor types of exploration. Any suggestions for relatively easy transfer to or from Jamaica? We have not done a ton a research yet, so any help anyone can provide would be appreciated! Thanks!

My sense of Jamaica is that it offers a lot of hiking/nature activities. How about spending additional time on another part of the island from where the wedding is? Up in the mountains or someplace like the Treasure Beach area?

It is really not feasible to Island hop from Jamaica. You will need to return to the US to get to another Island.
At one point and time, I think Air Jamaica used to be the airline for easily Island hopping. In 2003, we had booked Sandals Royal Bahaiman in Nassau and then their sister resort in Ocho Rios. However, Air Jamaica canceled our flights and we ended up just going to Nassau for the week. I don't think they do that anymore as they have had issues over the years and have pulled out of many departure airports including ours in Houston many years ago, but it wouldn't hurt to check.
I agree with the above suggestion. Montego Bay, Negril and Ocho Rios are quite far from each and vacationing in each area of the Island is like a new vacation.

i just searched air jam. apparently they are now flying as Caribbean Airlines & depart from mobay to kingston jam & then on to barbados, antigua, grenada, st. martin & trinidad & more.
grenada would have the lush topography & some hiking, waterfalls, etc.
