Island Help
I was wondering if someone with knowledge of Turks and Caicos and Anguilla could help me with some questions. We usually go to Anguilla but the prices seem to have gotten out of hand along with the airlines making it almost impossible to get there. We go there for the beaches, good food (fine dining and roadside ribs and chicken) and lack of hustle and bustle. Turks and Caicos seems to be similar to Anguilla and hotels/air fare about one-third of Anguilla. Can someone help me with answers to these questions? We are looking at the Sands, Royal Indies, Ocean Resort, Windsong, Alexandra range of price. Any help with these places to stay would also be greatly appreciated. We are looking to go in May.

Thought I would add some things that might help. We would be traveling with another couple, no children and would like a nice beach area. (usually stay on Shoal Bay in Anguilla). Have read some of the previous posts and have already gotten some ideas.

Have been to T & C, but not Anguilla for the reasons you listed. I would avoid the Sands as it is geared for families. We stayed at the Sibonne, a 26 room boutique hotel on Grace Bay, and love the smallness and quite. Alexandria was our second choice.
Do a search for anything posted by Blamona. She has great info about T & C. |
Been to both in the past nice beaches smaller fairly remote.
Save 60% Off Turks & Caicos During The 99 Hour Sale. Book Now! BookIt.com/Turks_&_Caicos_General Best deals for me Royal Indies Provo Grace Bay the only places to be... luxurylink.com has auctions 5 mights 2K or so at Cusin Art Spa/Resort Anguilla nice will be more expensive. Happy hunting both islands are small Provo has green hills that and prices make it a bit more appealing to me. Air is closer cheaper down also usually Flew planes down in the past half way between US and Puerto Rico.... Happy Hunting! |
There are lots of great options for accommodations in Turks & Caicos that's for sure - love telling people about them - I have the best job in the world!

We have stayed at Shoal Bay Villas on Anguilla and really enjoyed it, but I have to agree with you that it's just hard to get there so now we've gone to TCI 3 times.
We enjoy Ocean Club West even though it is a bit older than some. What we like is: 3 story buildings for easy access to the beach Fantastic stretch of beach- always enough chairs & umbrellas Restaurant and bar right on the beach-open 3 meals, good food Beautiful grounds & river pool close to the beach Grace Bay Club on 1 side--Seven Stars on the other(for the high end drinks & dinners) Easy shuttle to golf course That said, some of the units are better than others. We had 2 great units and 1 time not so great. Insist on 1 overlooking the pool, beach if you want to spend more. The studios are quite small and cramped even though they do have a nice screened balcony. We prefer the junior suites and so will you. Here's a couple of our trip reports to give you ideas: http://www.fodors.com/community/cari...d-it-again.cfm http://www.fodors.com/community/cari...ime-around.cfm |
We just got back from TCI and LOVED it! You may want to also consider renting a home on the beach. We went with four other couples and rented Villa Paprika on Grace Bay Beach by Turtle Cove. We loved being able to walk over to restaurants there and the beach was really quiet up there. There are a bunch of two bedroom houses too. If you are interested check out TC Villas.

Have been to Anguilla a couple of times and many times to TCI.
And I agree that it is so much easier to travel to TCI and the beaches are amazing. Grace Bay beach is also easier to stay on as you can walk to many other resorts. Check out Regent Palms The Somerset Regent Grand Villa Renaissance Seven Stars All upscale and all very nice |
What sunblock forgot to mention is the suggestions are upscale without the Anguilla price tag!
