Didn't look very new. We did not go inside so can't comment on the rooms. Susan you seem to be asking about every destination. Maybe if you could narrow your seach down you'd get a bit more information.

Beware, Susan, many travel snobs on this site. But not to worry! There are many friendly, informative individuals as well. (Why bother answering a post if you're going to be rude, right?)

My husband and I just returned from Atlantis, and I have to say that I'm not quite sure how far the Comfort Suites are from The Royal Towers. However, Paradise Island is very small and everything is withing a 15-20 minute walk, I would guess. If it is a little too far for you, taxis are actually very reasonably priced to grab.

Be warned, however, you must pay to use the facilities at Atlantis if you are not staying on the premisis (to check out "The Dig" it's like $25. I'm not sure about the pools, but it must be comperable). I know that they used to be free, but now they're strict about having wrist bands at the facilities!
I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have...

Hi all!
Susan, there is a ton of info here on the Comfort Suites. Do a search for the details, but in general, the consensus is that it is a good deal, but be sure to request the renovated wing. Some folks did have complaints, but they were worked out by the desk staff. It's a bit further than walking from the Beach Tower (since it's kitty-corner across the street), so I'd guess about 20 minutes (without young kids in tow!)
AHR, I beleive the CS on Paradise Island is owned by Atlantis (as is Ocean Club). So unless things have changed since last April, Comfort Suite (and OC) guests ARE given a wrist band that entitles them to all the Atlantis amenities. You can even sign charges to your CS room at Atlantis concessions. If you are not staying at an Atlantis owned property, you cannot use the pools/waterslides etc, even for a price. As you said, you can pay to see The Dig. And, of course, the Casino and restaurants are "open" to all!
Maybe I stand corrected, then. But I would check, just the same Susan, because I personally saw two couples get stopped and questioned as to where their wristbands were at the pools, and one couple was told they must obtain them to use Atlantas' pools (maybe they didn't have to pay?) We also chatted with some cruisers in town who were upset that they could not use the facilities at Atlantis unless they paid. Could've sworn I saw a sign, but maybe I had too many pina coladas on the beach?

Speaking of Comfort Suites, I can NOT believe that the Atlantis is SOLD OUT for 3/22-3/29.

Which makes me think that even if I did stay @ the Comfort Inn...there would be no room at the pool. Is this true? I know it is big, but is it large enough to accomodate ALL of those guests, and then some?

Maybe I should wait until September/October (off season time)

Thanks you guys!

Hi again,
Susan, I'd guess that there are conferences blocking out floors. But it does sound like it would be very crowded if the hotel is totally booked. March is also pretty cold and windy in the Bahamas. What about April or May? Or would you rather wait until fall? The summer would be really hot, and very crowded with kids.
Colin: Doesn't the Atlantis conglomerate own Ocean Club? I'm surprised that they have an agreement to let Comfort Suites guests use the grounds if they don't own it. And although it's only a two minute walk from CS to Atlantis property, isn't it way down by the Beach Tower? It took us about 15 minutes to walk from the Mayan Temple over to the Lazy River.
A.H.: Things may have changed since last April (2002), but we stayed at Atlantis and met friends who were cruising for lunch. They tried to purchase a "day pass" for the pools but were not allowed. Someone suggested they pay for a room at Comfort Suites instead - just to get a wrist band!!!

Atlantis,Ocean Club, golf course and related Ocean club estates are all the same company.Comfort Suites was built before Atlantis existed in The Bahamas,it was built to accommodate overbooking from Merv Griffins P.I resort and casino, which subsequently became Atlantis when Kerzner Int'l bought the place. The main partner of C.S was the CEO for Merv and he tied the 2 properties together with the "using the facilities" deal which has turned out to be a sweetheart deal for C.S.As far as questioning people about wristbands, many hotels use them as I.D for guests and possibly someone from Breezes was trying to bluff their way onto Atlantis property.C.S is a short walk from the Coral Tower and maybe 5min from Beach tower where you can get pool access,Royal Towers and the water slides are a long way as you have to go thru the casino to get to R.T lobby which then leads to The Dig and slides etc.
