Is snorkeling great in Turks & Caicos?

We're trying to decide which carribean island to visit this winter and are looking for an island with great beaches & great snorkeling. Are Turks & Caicos a good choice? Other suggestions??

Yes, for sure.
The beaches are not only great, but you get them all to yourself!

The TCI are wonderful! Great beaches and the best snorkling is on the reefs off the cays and islands. You did mention a winter vacation and you might find that they are not as warm nor the water as warm as a Carib island during the coldest winter months. Of course, some people figure it is warmer than at home so it's good, but I would seek warmer Carib islands.

I have been all over the caribbean and T&C have the best beaches and snorkeling, that I have encountered.
Re: water temp - depends on how warm you want the water to be - I have gone to Provo (in T&C) several times in January and I find the water very pleasant BUT I am from Canada and used to MUCH colder water (Georgian Bay) so if you are used to very warm water - go to T&C in March or later.

Have not been to T&C, but can recommend either Grand Cayman or St John for great beaches, and world class snorkeling. Both islands are very different, so check them out, and find one that suits what you're looking for.

Have been all over the Caribe and have never had a better time than Provo. The beach, the snorkeling, the scuba and the lack of people.....my favorite spot.

Hi Anne, we loved T&C-stayed on Provo last December. Beach at Grace Bay is wonderful, powder soft, you sink in to your ankles. I believe the place to snorkle is the reef offshore from "the white house".
Keep an eye out for JoJo!!

I agree with everyone else. We have traveled all over the Caribbean and Turks has the most wonderful, long, empty beach and very calm and clear waters. In front of the White House in Provo, there is an umderwater trail to follow.

Always found the water wonderful in early December for frolicking, floating and whatever! Evenings would get cool but the days were warm and wonderful!
