Is Puerto Rico recovered?

We had a Christmas trip all planned last year, but had to cancel of course. Our hotels were closed. How are things now? We want to take the trip we never took, but will have my mother-in-law with us. We were on Grand Cayman right after Ivan and it was good to see them rebuilding, but she's going to want it all up and running.

Thanks!

In a word, yes.

Virtually every hotel has now renovated and reopened. There are a few that won't go online until later this summer, but you should have no issues, especially if you are visiting San Juan. Out on the island, there's still clean-up going on, but the big resorts are all fine.

As far as I know, the only hotel in the San Juan area that is still closed due to the Hurricane is the Ritz Carlton.

We were in San Juan a month ago and it looked like nothing ever happened. We were out for few hours, visiting the forts, walking the Old Town streets and from what we could notice there was no visible damage of any kind.
