Is Puerto Rico a party place?

Just wondering.. last year the guys went to Cancun and this year we are thinking San Juan.

Is the atmosphere party-like with the clubs/bars/casinos or is it pretty tamed.

Is it a party spot to hit or not really....???

Also, are the beaches secluded or a strip like Cancun.

Thanks!

I am not a party animal but I imagine you can party just as well in PR as in Cancun. There is a dance club in the El San Juan hotel (I was there in Nov.) that appeared to be "hot". At least the ladies waiting in line to get in certainly looked "hot". The beaches are not secluded - similar to beaches in Cancun

Just got back a few weeks ago and I would say San Juan is not a wonderful party place unless you go to the clubs that the locals go to and we were told by the resort staff that tourist should not be out in the local areas. The Wyndham does have a wonderful club but does not get going until around 1 am and you have to be at least 23 to enter on the weekend. the atmosphere at the resort was more on the low keyed style not get up and dance if you feel like it. San Juan is beautiful and a must see but nothing compared to Cancun for partying. Hope this helps!

Another thing I wanted to add is that after 5 pm every one is dressed to the nines. People entering the clubs all were wearing jackets. A dress shirt and dress pants were almost underdressed. I agree that there were a lot of ladies but almost all (97%) were escorted. Good Luck!
