Is Mid-May a good time to visit Puerto Rico?

Hello,

We have never been to Puerto Rico, and are considering going in the middle of May, for 1 week.

I understand that this is considered off-season. Has anyone been to Puerto Rico in Mid-May, and can advise about whether it would be worth it? Hurricane season starts in June, but are we pushing it to be there only two weeks before?

What about being able to sit on the beach? Will it be generally too windy or rainy during that time of the year? Maybe Barbados would be better for May?

Thanks for the advise!

Holly,
We have been to PR in July, and it rained for about two hours one day. The other 7 days were beautiful. The only thing is that the weather is more humid around this time of year. I think it is a great time to go, especially since it is off-season and everything is cheaper. With regards to hurricanes, they are more likely to occur from August-October in PR even though the season begins in June.

Thank you! That's good advice!

I have been to PR many times. There is NO good time to go.

I have been to P.R. many times (in May, June, July, and September). The weather has always been good. You may get some showers some of the days but most likely not enough to spoil your days at the beach. I also agree with Adrienne that you can find much better hotel deals in the off-season.
