Is It Still Illegal for Americans to Travel to Cuba?
 

I live in Germany and like to take a 2 week holiday in Cuba. Does anyone know if this is legal? <BR>Thanks

I don't think that Americans can get a visa to get into Cuba from the Cuban Government, if there is an embasy in Germany, check. <BR> <BR>I think you will have to choose another island. Sorry. Hopefully some day soon restrictions will be lifted. <BR>

The restrictions are by the American government, who will not allow their citizens to travel to Cuba except under special circumstances. Pam, We've just returned from Varadero, Cuba and ran into a few Americans. They had absolutely no problems at all in customs or otherwise. Have fun. Rob

I am an American (L.A. area) and have been to Cuba twice. Technically it isn't illegal for us to go there, just illegal to spend U.S. dollars there. One way of getting around this is to book an all inclusive trip through a foreign travel agent. <BR> <BR>When I arrived in Havana, the Cuban authorities treated me just like everyone else. No problems. When I returned, our customs only seemed to be interested in what I was bringing back. Since I didn't have any cigars, rum or other contraband, they searched my luggage and let me go. <BR> <BR>I had a great time and plan on returning in October.
