Was there in 1996 and definitely safe...and beautiful. By far, one of the most interesting places I've been. If you're looking for beach, go north. If you're looking for interesting go to Port-au-Prince. Feel free to contact me if you'd like.

HELL is safer than Haiti. Go there instead. It is a little hotter in Haiti than in HELL.

If there was one place I wouldn't go it would be Haiti..there is a serious outbreak of Polio..crime is rampant....

Haiti is indeed an intresting country, crime is though rampant there, Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. However as indeed mentioned there are certain areas in Haiti where it is safer such as the norther part of the island..in the are where cruise ships dock. Port au Prince may be very dangerous..

Haiti is not ready for tourism as yet..but has great potential in being a great tourism destination.
