Is eating out expensive in Barbados?

I am planning a trip in July and I just wanted to get a sense of restaurant prices in Barbados.

Yes

I disagree with gary. I live in a beach (tourist) city, so it didn't seem steep to me. You can eat very expensively,,but you don't need to. Definitely try Oistins Fish market a few nights for an enormous serving of great fish - $10.00. Avoid the tourist traps and you can eat in the $8-$12 range.

Ouch

The answer is: YES. Even Chefette's (macdonald's equiv.) is not cheap- but the ice-cream is EXCELLENT!

You are on an island, of course things are more expensive than they would be at home.. Pamr is right, you just don't eat at the tourist traps.. enjoy the culture that the island has to offer.. It's like going to San Fran, you can easily look for some great restaurants that are down a little alcove or off main street and eat a reasonable meal..

I guess it all depends on what you call expensive. Our last trip in April, 2000, we paid the same prices we would pay in the U.S. for excellent meals. Barbados has some great restaurants. You're on vacation, enjoy what the island has to offer.
