In Puerto Rico: Hyatt Cerromar or Westing Rio Mar or neither?
We are planning a Honeymoon in June of 2002. We are looking at either of these resorts. We both like to play golf so this is part of the reason we chose them. We don't plan to be out all night but is there anything to do for a couple hours after dinner besides the casino? Any other good honeymoon resorts which have golf?

The Westin is closer to San Juan so SJ night life is more accessible. The Cerromar is a familiy oriented resort so there are always lots of kids around. There is very little to do around either property. If I had to make a choice I would pick the Westin although I believe there are at least three courses to play at the Cerromar since you have access to the facilities at the Hyatt Dorado, a sister hotel next door.

I recommend staying at the Dorado. It is more romantic, quieter, very spread out over a larger piece of property -- the Cerramar is really just one big building with all the rooms there. The rooms at the Dorado are spread out all along the beach. If you get a beachfront room you are right on the beach -- the upper rooms have better views, the lower you can walk right out to the beach from your patio. It is easy to take the trolley between the resorts so you can get to the casino and restaurants at Cerramar. Su Casa at the Dorado is by far the best restaurant of the entire Cerramar/Dorado resort.

we just returned from the westin last friday. there is nothing to do after dinner except the casino. I don't golf but I heard the golf corse was good.my husband stayed at the cerromar a few years ago and he liked that better. the westin is 45 min. from san juan so if you rent a car you can go there at night. The food was Ok don't get the meal plan it is not worthit.

If you decide to split your visit consider skipping the Cerromar on a Saturday and Sunday - kids, kids and more kids and they take over the pool. Of course, no problem if you like to spend your time at the beach. If you are going to have a rental car there is a $10 daily parking fee at the Cerromar. I think guest parking is free at the Dorado.
