In a bit of a bind re: Barbados accomodation options w/ kitchens

I'll be traveling with 2 other people and we'd like a one or 2 bedroom suite w/ kitchen (meaning the bedroom is close-able from the rest of the unit).

I was set to go w/ Bouganvillea until I heard the water was rough. Coral Sands won't work bc it looks like they are all STUDIOS, basically one big room with 2 double beds.

Are there other options in this price range on calm beaches with the floor plan we require?

Just how rough is Bouganvillea's water (can you swim past the breakers?)

How far is Bouganvillea from Sandy Beach?

thanks. (and yes I've emailed Lois just thought I'd also pose the questions for others on the forum too).

thanks much!

beanie0300,
Have you looked at a 2bd villa or cottage? May or may not be right on the beach but some have a pool and if with pool but not on the beach the price is generally a wash. Something to consider. Have a great trip.

The most hotels offer studios only.
You should search for beach houses or apartments.

The south coast where you are looking is wavy. If you want calm waters try the west coast. There are a myriad of hotels, but we haven't stayed. We like the wave actions on the south coast. If you decide to brave the waves, the Southern Palms Beach Club has suites where the bedroom is separate from the living area. There are two doors on the bathroom, so it can be shared without disturbance. We liked it. Clean, comfortable, well run, good food, two pools, and a great beach, Dover Beach!

The Coral Sands is about a 30 min walk or 10 min drive from Bouganvillea. There is a calm area at Sandy Beach (Coral Sands, Sandy Beach Island Resort) that has a natural break causing a kind of pool. All around it is great waves.

Peace, Greenie

Search my Barbados trip report . We stayed at Casuarina Beach Club , right next door to Bouganvilla. I did comment on the water conditions.

Oops just realised that I did not post a trip report here but did discuss the area and beach as part of my hotel review of Casuarina on Tripadvisor. Also go to Caribline there is info there in the forums where questions pertaining to your concerns have been addressed.

The Casuarina has 2 bedroom apartments with kitchen etc. Go to www.casuarina.com. As previous posters have said, there can be wave action here but the pools are good (and at least one is adults only).
